Van Bremen Back Into Second In Eureka Series
MVB Racing posted Sunday March 14, 2010.

With two rounds remaining in the $10,000 to win Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series, Mike Van Bremen is 125-points off the series lead after last night (March 13) contesting the re running of the third round of the series at the Victorian Championship held at Warrnambool’s Sungold Stadium.

The weekend prior two important rounds of the Eureka Series were effectively washed out from the poor weather and it was vital Van Bremen made an early impression at Sungold Stadium as the Eureka Series comes to a season close, which he did in the time trial event.

Van Bremen was the eighth pairing of cars to hit the track to set a qualifying time and averaging a speed of close to 140km/h he set a time of 10.721 to be the best qualifier of the Eureka Series drivers in fifth position.

“We were very happy with the time trial, it was the fastest I’ve gone around Warrnambool. It gave us a bit of confidence for the rest of the night,” said Van Bremen.

Starting from the front row of his opening heat, Van Bremen had some luck go his way when heat race leader Steven Lines pulled infield on the final lap. ‘The Flying Dutchman’ was handily placed second at the time and was more than happy to be the beneficiary and accept the chequered flag first.

With the field inverted for the second round of heats, Van Bremen started from position nine to eventually finish seventh and secure a solid starting position of seventh for the 30-lap A Main event.

During the final Van Bremen could not keep up his earlier night momentum, slightly missing the setup and some contact with another car shunted him infield to lose multiple positions to eventually finish 11th.

“The A-Main didn’t go to plan, we did miss the setup and the track was quite rough so we had to come to terms with that. Later on in the race another car made contact with me, which sent me skidding infield and I lost a few positions,” said MVB.

Over the next two weeks Van Bremen and his team will be solely focused on Moama’s Heartland Raceway and Ballarat’s Redline Speedway where 125-points separate them from series leader John Vogels.

“I’m looking forward to the next couple of weeks, it will be hard to chase down Johnny Vogels but we will give it a go. It’s been a pretty good battle in the top three between Johnny, Jamie Veal and I,” said Van Bremen.
