Second Place For Mvb In 07-08 Eureka Series
MVB Racing posted Wednesday April 16, 2008.

The MVB Racing team were unable to make up the 133-point deficit on archrival Matthew Reed in the final round of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series on Saturday night (April 12) at Hamilton’s Western Speedway.

With a small nomination list for the last round, Van Bremen needed everything to go right to beat Reed in the overall series, but on a difficult track to pass on ‘The Flying Dutchman’ had to accept the runner up position in another productive season on the Victorian circuit.

A heavy shower moments before engine starts forced a lengthy delay while the track was made safe for racing, but unfortunately a lack of a high line and a considerably amount of clay on the pole line made passing near on impossible.

“It was the first time I’ve been to the Hamilton track and it was unfortunate the rain shower came, there was no highline and you couldn’t put any wheels on the pole line because of the amount of clay built up from the grading,” Van Bremen said.

Van Bremen’s two heat results were less than flattering and the Action Blast Cleaning / CSR Methanol V#6 Maxim started the final from position 12.

It was a feature blemished by stoppages and in the end, was reduced to 20 laps. Van Bremen finished fifth, but as he explains it was a race of attrition.

“I only passed a couple of cars when they drifted high, other than that I just sat tight and stayed out of trouble. It was a fast and narrow track; there was nothing you could do about it.

“If we didn’t get the rain I’m sure the track would have developed a couple of grooves and been quite good,” Van Bremen said.

On reflection of Van Bremen’s 13th Sprintcar season, it was another solid performance where he figured highly week in week out in local competition.

“We had our highs and lows like everyone and to finish second in the Eureka Series certainly shows that we were consistent throughout the nine rounds.

“I must send a big thanks to all of my crew too, they did a wonderful job throughout the season. Also a big thanks goes out to all of my sponsors.

“It was the first season with a 410 Sprintcar, so we learnt a lot on that part and the team will now enjoy a well earned rest.” Mike said.

Supporting the MVB Racing team for 2007-2008 are Action Blast Cleaning, CSR Methanol, Speedway Motors and National Rod Ends.
