Easter Sunday The Positive Van Bremen Needed
MVB Racing posted Tuesday March 25, 2008.

With some of the best drivers in the country tackling the Easter Sprintcar Trail, local Victorian star Mike Van Bremen was pleased to end the three night affair with a strong top five finish in front of a bumper crowd at Warrnambool’s Sungold Stadium on Easter Sunday night.

Good Friday signalled the start of the 2008 Easter Trail and Van Bremen was keen to perform in front of a huge home crowd and the night started promisingly when he qualified in eighth starting position for the 30-lap main event.

On a drying racetrack, he failed to make any major inroads and finished in 12th position.

“We got caught out slightly and it was disappointing to go backwards, but it was still a solid start to the weekend. However it wasn’t that great at Mt Gambier for us,” Van Bremen said.

On a fast racetrack at Borderline Raceway, Van Bremen was involved in an incident which damaged his front end in the second qualifying heat race, ending his night.

“The front end got bent across and we decided to pack it up for the night and get prepared for the final night at Warrnambool, which proved to be a successful evening for us,” said Mike.

The Action Blast Cleaning / CSR Methanol Maxim set the eighth quickest time in time trials, which ‘The Flying Dutchman’ said was a strong beginning.

“I set a lap time in the sub 11-seconds which was the fastest I have been at Warrnambool for a few years, we knew then that we were on the pace and we just had to capatilise,” explained Van Bremen.

Van Bremen finished second and seventh in his qualifying heat races to start from position seven on the A-Main grid in a star riddled line up.

With a track providing an opportunity for forward movements, the Van Bremen team nailed the set up and passed cars early.

As lapped traffic played a role, the two times SRA Series Champion raced up behind third placed Ryan Farrell and poked his nose under the Western Australian driver for a podium position.

A yellow light stoppage appeared with nine lap’s remaining, proving untimely for Van Bremen. In the end, he crossed the line in fifth place, which still put a smile on the dial of the MVB Racing team.

“It was a pleasing result considering we had a bent front end from the night prior and we had a car that was in contention for a podium place,” said MVB.

This weekend Van Bremen will head north to Moama’s Heartland Raceway and after his recent confidence booster, he enters with the plan of chasing down series leader Matthew Reed.

“Sunday night we had a car capable of a podium finish, so hopefully we can continue that speed into the last two rounds of the Eureka Series at Moama this weekend and Hamilton in a few weeks time,” he said.

Supporting the MVB Racing team for 2007-2008 are Action Blast Cleaning, CSR Methanol, Speedway Motors and National Rod Ends.
