Second Podium Result At Avalon This Season For Van Bremen
MVB Racing posted Thursday December 27, 2007.

With major sponsor Action Blast Cleaning enjoying the festivities at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway on Boxing Day, Mike Van Bremen continued his strong form this season with his second podium result from as many starts at Avalon.

In front of Avalon’s largest crowd for the season for the fourth round of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Super Sprint Series, which doubled as the annual Gold Cup, Van Bremen had his first race meeting for a month after the December 15 show at Avalon was washed out.

After two heat results of a fourth and a first, ‘The Flying Dutchman’ started the 25-lap final from seventh position with an extremely strong line up in front of him.

“The six cars in front of me all had the ability to win the feature and one of my crew members asked me, ‘Do you think you can win this?’ I thought that I was capable of winning it, but I needed some luck and to pass cars early,” Mike said.

On the first turn in the final, there was a skirmish, which sent Matthew Reed to the rear and consequently elevated the outside row to better starting positions.

“Unfortunately I was on the inside row, so I didn’t get to move up when cars were taken out before a lap even passed. However Tony Moule did pull infield, so I started the race proper from fifth,” Van Bremen said.

After regular stoppages, the main point in Van Bremen’s A-Main assault was when he blasted past Sydney’s Troy Little in the dieing stages to be in third position, only to be re-passed illegally and Van Bremen crossed the line in fourth place.

“It’s our second podium finish at Avalon this season and it was good to get it when Shane from Action Blast Cleaning was watching and enjoying the racing,” Van Bremen said.

Van Bremen was also full of praise for feature winner Brett Milburn who he does battle with week in week out in the Eureka Garages and Sheds Series.

“Full credit to Brett on winning his maiden open feature race, I’m jealous he has won at Avalon Raceway where I’ve been racing there for 13 years and yet to win there,” Van Bremen laughed.

This Sunday night (December 30) the MVB Racing team will return to Avalon Raceway for Round 12 of Wanless World Series Sprintcars.

On New Years Day the team will then head to Warrnambool’s Sungold Stadium for Round 13 of WWSS.

“I’m looking forward to racing with the best drivers in the country, we only do it a handful of times in a year and it’s quite an exciting time of the year. We just want to continue our strong form,” Van Bremen said.

Supporting the MVB Racing team for 2007-2008 are Action Blast Cleaning, CSR Methanol, Speedway Motors and National Rod Ends.
