Van Bremen Musters Up 10th Place In Competitive Warrnambool Outing
MVB Racing posted Monday November 26, 2007.

Multiple SRA Series Champion Mike Van Bremen headed to Warrnambool’s Sungold Stadium on Saturday night (November 24) brimming with confidence for the second round of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Series, but he was unable to reproduce his first round performance of a podium result, instead finishing 10th in a competitive race.

With a bumper field of over 40 cars in the pits, it was important for Van Bremen to move significantly forward in his two qualifying heat races to qualify strongly for the main event.

In Van Bremen’s opening heat he moved from third to second and in the final heat he moved from eighth to sixth. On some race nights this would be enough to qualify ‘The Flying Dutchman’ straight into the A-Main, but not on this occasion with a front row start in the B-Main the best outcome.

“They were some pretty tough heats we got dealt, and we just couldn't move forward enough,” explained Mike.

"We ran the B-Main, got some good laps in and it gave me the chance to get used to the conditions of the racetrack, I tried high and low and saw what was working best.”

Van Bremen led the majority of the last chance 15-lap event, but on the final corner youngster Tim Rankin passed him on the inside.

“I must admit I didn’t think any other driver would be around entering the final corner, I was cruising a little bit through the turn and there wasn’t much I could do when young Rankin got by me.

“It didn’t bother me, because you are only in the B-Main to qualify for the A-Main and they take the top four so really that’s your objective to be in the transfer positions,” said Van Bremen.

The Action Blast Cleaning / CSR Methanol V#6 Maxim started the 25-lap final from 14th position and on a racy track surface, managed to finish 10th.

“In the feature we tried high, low and pretty much everywhere. It was a pretty competitive race, we picked off a few, got passed by a few, a few crashed so to finish 10th was an okay result from where we were."

“It was the first laps I’ve done since the first round at Avalon last month, but now we are starting to get into some more busy times and I’m sure we can improve,” Van Bremen added.

With the month of December only days away, the Van Bremen team will focus on the next two rounds of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Series at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway on December 15 and December 26, as well as World Series Sprintcars at the venue on December 30.

“We are placed fourth in the Eureka Series, so hopefully by the end of next month we can be in the top two or three,” Mike said.

Supporting the MVB Racing team for 2007-2008 are Action Blast Cleaning, CSR Methanol, Speedway Motors and National Rod Ends.
