Van Bremen Rounds Off Podium At Avalon
MVB Racing posted Tuesday October 30, 2007.
‘The Flying Dutchman’ Mike Van Bremen started his assault on the Eureka Garages and Sheds Super Sprint Series in positive style on Saturday night (October 27) by finishing third in a quality field at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway.
The MVB Racing team started their 2007-08 season at Sydney’s Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway on October 20, finishing in the B-Main amongst a large driver line up.
“We decided to go up to PCR for the first time in around five years, we thought it would be good to get a couple of laps and get rid of the cobwebs so we’d be on the ball at Avalon.
“I was very confident in our preparation over the off season and as it turned out, we were right in the mix on Saturday night and came away with a podium finish which is a great way to start,” Van Bremen said.
The first heat race for the MVB Racing team saw Van Bremen draw pole position and he capitalised with a comfortable victory aboard the V#6 Action Blast Cleaning Maxim. The grid was reversed and Van Bremen worked his was from 10th to finish eighth in his final heat race.
Unfortunately it was not enough to qualify the 410 cubic inch powered Sprintcar of Van Bremen’s into the top six time trial, but instead to eighth on the grid for the 25-lap feature in front of a large opening night crowd.
Van Bremen used his Avalon Raceway experience of 12 years to work his way through the field and eventually into third place behind race winner David Murcott and Sydney’s Troy Little.
The result also has Van Bremen sitting in fourth place after the first round of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Series.
“There were some good cars in front of me, I passed a couple and a couple spun out. There wasn’t a lot in it in the end so it was a good result all things considered.
“The key to winning the SRA series is consistency over the season and it’s a good consistent way to start. David Murcott will be heading off to World Series Sprintcars soon and I don’t think Troy Little will race every round, so effectively I’m second in the series behind Matty Reed,” Van Bremen said.
This Saturday night (November 3) the MVB Racing team will leave their Lilydale base and head to Adelaide’s Speedway City to race against some of the country’s best in the Australian Sprintcar Masters.
“There are 34 cars nominated so far, including most of the World Series big guns. It will be a very good hit out and hopefully I can get off to a good start in the heats and look at a result up the front in the final,” enthused Van Bremen.
The next race meeting in Victoria for Van Bremen will be on November 24 at Warrnambool’s Sungold Stadium for the second round of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Series.
Supporting the MVB Racing team for 2007-2008 are Action Blast Cleaning, CSR Methanol, Speedway Motors and National Rod Ends.
