Feature Glory For Mvb At Nyora
MVB Racing posted Sunday March 18, 2007.

Mike Van Bremen’s new attitude to Sprintcar racing is paying dividends after the V#6 Action Blast Cleaning / CSR Methanol Maxim greeted the chequered flag first at Gippsland’s Nyora Speedbowl on Saturday night (March 17) in Round 11 of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Super Sprintcar Series.

In recent weeks, the MVB Racing Team has upped the ante on the racetrack with ‘The Flying Dutchman’ adopting an aggressive frame of mind, which has been lacking over the years.

“I sat down recently and decided that now is the time to have a real crack at winning. Over the years I have taken an approach where I would be happy with consistent results,” Van Bremen said.

“I want consistent results, but successful results. I’m being more aggressive, which is a real positive at the moment because it’s working.”

Van Bremen’s feature race win at Nyora was his first for sometime, which accompanies his strong performances from last weekend at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway where he had magneto problems while leading the final and the runner up result at Simpson Speedway.

“I’m in a purple patch at the moment, we could’ve had three feature wins in a row really. My confidence is high and I’m driving knowing that I can be at the front and win,” Mike said.

Saturday kicked off with a heat race victory in the opening heat race for Van Bremen, but it was heat two where the majority of the night’s progress was made. Starting from eighth position, Van Bremen blasted his way to finish third, which was a terrific result given the tight confines of Nyora Speedbowl.

Van Bremen was second highest on points heading into the top six pole shuffle, where he pulled off a breathtaking move on Garry Chippindall for the right to face John Vogels for pole position. Chippindall led Van Bremen in the two lap dash right to the last corner until ‘MVB’ swiftly went around the outside to narrowly win.

He then dealt with Vogels to start the 25-lap A-Main from pole position.

A number of restarts during the final halted the momentum of Van Bremen, but in a positive it also gave him clear air and less lap traffic to worry about on his way to a dominating victory.

“I can’t remember so many restarts in a race actually. I was a little bit worried about fuel as we had ran out right at the end the week before at Simpson,” said Van Bremen.

The A-Main win now elevates Van Bremen to second position – 610 points behind leader Vogels and 201 points ahead of third placed Matthew Reed - heading into the final round of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Series this Saturday night (March 24) at Warrnambool’s Sungold Stadium-Premier Speedway.

“I’m excited heading into Warrnambool this weekend, I will be using my more aggressive approach again and I will take some risks, so it should be interesting,” Van Bremen said.
