MVB back to Bacchus Marsh
MVB Racing posted Wednesday December 21, 2005.

Last Saturday night saw the return of sprintcar racing to the Bacchus Marsh (now called Rolling Thunder Raceway) venue.

With threatening skies for the whole of the Saturday it was surprising we even ended up racing at all !!
But race we did, with about 25 odd sprintcars in attendance the pace was well and truly on.

We had a good run in our first heat where we had to start at the back of the bus (in position 12) and had made our way up to about 6th when I had to take evasive action to avoid hitting a couple of the competitors dicing ahead of me and bring up a lot of dust.... this wayward adventure caused me to drift very high on the track and almost clout the wall... The end result was I spun out in Turn 4 !!! Not pleased, but now with a head full of steam, on the restart (from last) we blasted back up to about 6th place...

The next heat we started on the front row and held down a comfortable lead until a yellow light stoppage. Before the end of the heat race we were passed by a very fast Travis Rilat...

We qualified the Action Blast Cleaning / Shine Hand Car Wash Foster out of position 3 for the A-dash... We ran 2nd in this race to give us a starting position of 3 in the A-main.

The main feature event was the lowlight of our night to be honest, we made a poor judgement when selecting a right rear tyre to run and because the tyre simply didnt work (nor wear out) we were out to lunch when it came to actually being competitive... The best we could do was 8th !

Oh well, there is always next time.......

See you at the races..
