Team MVB finally race at 'home'.
MVB Racing posted Monday December 8, 2003.

After clocking up 8000 klm's on the road so far this season it was a welcome relief to travel a mere 100k's to Avalon for the next round of the Proton WSS competition last Saturday night.

The night started reasonably well in time trials for us as we managed to post 7th quick time out of the 32 cars in attendance. We progressed forward in both our heats (running 7th and 4th) and managed to make our first dash of the WSS rounds contested so far this year ! Yippee...

We ran second behind Ian Lewis in the 2nd dash which meant we started out of position 4 for the A-main.

The car was fast all night, and the start of the A-main was no exception. We settled into 3rd place behind Ian Lewis and eventual winner Max Dumesny (who was setting a cracking pace from the front).

For the first 1/3 or so of the feature we were running a comfortable 3rd, and that is when things went wrong. Within a nanosecond the car changed from something fast and nice to drive to what I imagine would be the closest I get to riding a bull in a rodeo. We unfortunately dropped many places whilst trying to purely not get upside down, finishing an eventual 9th. The problem was caused by a 20 cent part of course.... A simple pin which holds the shockers in place had become dislodged on one of the rear shockers... which in turn caused us to have a shocker :-)

We look forward to returning to Avalon for the next round of WSS next Saturday night to hopefully have a better finishing result.
