MVB Hits the road....
MVB Racing posted Wednesday December 3, 2003.
Sorry for the long delay in punching out an article, things have been hectic to say the least (plus I have been too slack).
You have probably all seen my previous article showing pictures of our new truck / trailer, well let me say that this thing is one hell of a nice jigga to drive and travel in.... We really are spoiling the crew now - comfortable ride, heating, air conditioning, cd player and plenty of power to cruise at a reasonable speed :-)
We started our season off by heading across to Adelaide for the annual Sprintcar Masters. We timed in 3rd quickest, ran OK in the heats, and managed to progress from 10th starting position in the A-main to a very pleasing 4th place. Being the first race of the season, our main aim was to just get some competitive laps under the belt, running 4th was a welcome result.
The next weekend we headed off to Brisbane for the beginning of our WSS schedule. Considering we had never raced at this track before, we were just hoping to make the A-main and keep the car in one piece. We managed to do that.......... Just. We timed about midfield, didnt really do much in the heats, and had to run the b-main. We managed to get ourselves up to 6th (the final transfer spot) and progressed to the A-main, which we finished in 13th place... We now have a reasonable setup for the brisbane track down pat and are looking forward to returning there later in the series.
The next weekend was meant to be WSS Rnd 2 @ Wagga, but en-route we were phoned and told it was too wet and had been cancelled... We turned the truck around and decided to head off to Avalon to compete in the local SRA series, but well before we made it to Avalon we once again got a call to say it was cancelled...... we had no choice but to go home and have a BBQ and drinks :-)
Last weekend we travelled again to Adelaide, but this time for WSS Rnd 3. The weather once again almost stole the show, but finally we got to go racing on a revised program... We struggled in our heats and consequently started in the B-main.... We finished the B in 6th place (final transfer spot)... In the A-main we basically kept our nose clean and finished the race in 14th place.
This weekend we are looking forward to only travelling a short distance (in comparison to the previous 3 weeks) and visiting Avalon for WSS Rnd 4. It will also be our first race in our home state !!
See you at the track. MVB
